On the application form you had to write why you wanted to go to the college. You had to write your date of birth, your awards or certificates, your strengths in school, the school phone number, your name and the school address. Some people are really excited to go to the college.

We have been learning about Victorian children by looking at real copies of some Victorian reports. People were looking at different reports like Attendance in Highland school, Victorian schools and our school, and differences between p6sj and Victorian classes.
We had fun learning about Victorian children and looking at the reports.

Today we had art and made people from the Victorian times.
First of all we drew the outline then we went over it with black markers.
Then we had the pictures of Victorian citizens doing their jobs.
Then we used materials for their clothes.
After that we cut them out and made a background for them.
We used chalk for the parts were we stuck the Victorian citizens.
The chalk made the pictures look dirty.

On Thursday it was Rabbie Burns Day normally known as Robert Burns Day. But we celebrated it on Friday. First part was in the morning when primary 7 had their assembly it was about Robert Burns. The second part of Robert Burns Day was when all the classes had to recite Scottish or Robert Burns poems. We recited 'John Anderson my Jo'. Robert Burns wrote it like he was a women talking to her husband. Then the piper came in with Mr Naismith with the haggis, he recited a poem
And cut the haggis and squeezed the meat out.
The last part of the day was when we had haggis, turnip, short bread and iron bru. Rabbie Burns was best of all!!!

Four primary Seven pupils have been working hard in their spare time to finish this movie. The girls took photos and shot video footage of Christmas activity around the school. The photos were made into slideshows with commentary and video footage was edited in on iMovie.Links: Archive |EntryHealth

P6 s/j were doing health with Mrs Moore. We talked about the five different food groups: sugars and fats, protein, carbohydrates, calcium and fruit and veg. You can’t just pick a food group and eat that you have to have some of all the food groups. You should not have lots of the fats and sugar because it is not good for you. To keep healthy you must eat healthy things. Carbohydrate gives you lots of energy. Calcium gives you strong teeth and bones. You should eat five pieces of fruit and veg each day. Egg is a protein not calcium.

Kristopher posted the post below on his own blog this afternoon. Quite a few other Primary Six SJ pupils manage to do the same:They played a game on the bbc site, grabbed a screenshot, converted the screenshot to a jpg file, blogged about playing the game using the image and linked to the game.
I was really pleased that they managed such a complex task.
You can read more of the posts at Primary Six SJ, please pop along and leave them a comment.
Kristopher's Post:
Yesterday I played the BBC sound game.

What I learned about sound:
If you tighten the string on a drum it's sound will be much higher. If it is loose it will be lower.
Also if you tighten a string on a guitar it will also be very high. If it is loose it will be lower.
If you blow into an bottle full of water it will be higher, but if you blow into a empty bottle it will be higher.
I really think the sound game was really good way to learn about sound.

A few days ago me, my Gran and my little cousin wrote a letter to a radio station called Saga Radio. We wrote about Miss McArthur, our headteacher, for all the things she does at Sandaig such as going to see the Girls Brigade displays, always goes to dancing shows and much more. Miss McArthur received a big bunch of lovely flowers from the Saga radio company. My gran recorded the things Saga Radio said on a tape so that the staff could listen to it, you can listen to the mp3:
or download
Miss McArthur says:
NicoleI would like to thank Mrs Thomson very much for thinking about me and sending in the nomination. I was thrilled to receive the flowers - they are lovely - but knowing that I had been nominated was even lovelier. I enjoy going to see the children in out of school events and I am looking forward to the summer term when there are lots of them to see.

A team from primary 6 filmed the whole process and groups of primary six edited the video.
Thanks to Suzanne and Sandy for a great day!

Yesterday Mr.Johnston set up the video conference. We were talking to a woman called Lou. She was in a building called The National Archives in London. We talked about a Victorian boy called Henry Munday. Henry stole a piece of sugar and he went to jail! In the jail there was a big X and you had to put your hands in the top of the X and you put your legs at the bottom of the X then the jail keepers would whip with a cat o nine tails and would beat you with a birch broom. In the jail there would also be a big step whish you would spend 12 hours stepping on it that was called hard labour. Henry was 13 and he was in jail for 4 days of getting whipped and hard labour.

At the moment Karen is working in a panto called The Magical Adventures Of Peter Pan. Claire went to see it on Friday; here they are reporting their point of view. Karen is appearing in panto in pavilion theatre in Glasgow, until the 26th of January but the whole show ends on the 27th.Karen's point of view on stage
At first it was a little bit scary. The second time was all right, the third time was great. Now I get the hang it. I am really proud of myself because of it. Its fun to get up on stage and act in front of alls those people. My funniest or most embarrassing moments are when I killed (well I didn’t actually kill it, it was fake) a flamingo and when my trousers fell down when I was a sumo wrestler. The best thing is singing and dancing to "don’t feel dancing dancing".
Claire's point of view in the audience
It was funny at the start with Nana (the dog) but then it got even funnier.
Laura out of river city was Wendy and Bob was Michael. My best part was when nanny (who was played by Dean Park) he said to a women "is that your second husband hen, aye it wouldn’t be my first choice either"
And when Karen was singing "from Paris to Berlin"
Claire: We hope you come and see Karen and all the other cast.
Karen: don't worry I think they will!
Both: BBBBBBBYYYYYYEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

There was a dress called Kimono it was red with a black ribbon round her waist with flowers on her dress. We played a guessing game to see where she came from Connor guessed where she came from but she gave us a clue and said the currency is Yen. We thought it was good talking Japanese because of the funny ways of saying the words. We learned how to say hello, how do you do, my name is and goodbye. At the end of the day she showed us some pictures of when she was teaching in Japan.
We recorded ourselves speaking Japanese for Radio Sandaig.

Today Primary 5 m were using Paint to paint symetrical butterflys.
First we drew a straight line down the middle of the page, we held the shift key down to make sure it was straight.
We drew the body and the wings with the paint brush.
We took the brush for a walk inside the wings, and coloured in bits with the paint bucket.
WE filled in the red line with white to get rid of it.
Then we copied, pasted it and fliped it horozontally.
